If you are unable to visit the library in person, our reference staff offers the following means of assistance:

Reference Service by E-mail

You may submit questions to our reference staff electronically. This service is available to Highland Park Public Library cardholders only, unless you are asking about local information which can only be answered by resources unique to our collection. 

The E-Mail reference service will answer specific questions or give leads for you to pursue your most challenging research topics.  We check these emails periodically during the hours the library is open (Mon-Thurs:9am to 9pm; Fri:9am to 6pm; Sat:9am to 5pm; Sun.[Sept.-May]:1pm to 5pm).  We will respond to questions within 24 hours, except on weekends. This service is not currently able to respond to questions that need a rapid answer.

Which questions are appropriate for Reference by E-mail?

We will provide brief answers, short lists of print or electronic resources, or we may suggest research strategies to be conducted during your next library visit.
